Junction Commons

In 2013 a dedicated group of Junction neighbours saw the opportunity for a community hub in a former police station. I got involved in 2014 as a researcher, helping run design charrettes and creating this 66 page slideshow summary of our findings – which I presented at a townhall of over 125 neighbours. I also set up the junctioncommons website – and liased with City of Toronto and other elected officials as a group representative.

“Community hubs are emerging as effective methods of local capacity building for residents, grassroots community groups and smaller agencies that are now able to participate in the local community in more meaningful ways. Community hubs also address the need for civic space where community members can connect and neighbourhoods can mix.”
